Citywide Prayer
History Over the past decade missiologists and church growth researchers have reported communities and cities experiencing what is called “community transformation.” At the core of over 700 remarkable unfolding stories of transformation are growing multitudes of God’s people engaged in passionate, focused, united prayer.
The Body of Christ in greater Houston area is hungry to experience this same kind of transformation. The Church across Houston has experienced seasons of united prayer with community transformation at the heart, inspired by many of these unfolding stories from the non-Western world. The Lord has used Pastor Steve Riggle from Grace Community Church and other ministry leaders from our city to call and facilitate various citywide prayer efforts. During this season there is a growing sense that God is calling the Body of Christ across Houston together again on a regular basis to seek His Face and His redemptive purposes for our city – through united, transforming prayer.
A Call • Would you be willing to count your congregation as “One of a Thousand Congregations” to connect via satellite once a month as part of a united, praying army? • Would you be willing to contact pastors and ministry leaders in your sphere of relationships to join thousands of believers who will pray and contend for God’s purposes and plans for our city and communities? • Would you be willing to join hundreds of congregations in a large venue at some point like Reliant Stadium or Minute Maid Park, to call upon the Name of the Lord together – for His saving, healing grace to impact our city?
II Chronicles 7:14 in simple words God promises “If you will…then I will…”
“If My people who are called by My Name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
Here is how this can happen:
1. The senior pastor or ministry leader will fill out the online form below and be enrolled as “One of a Thousand Congregations Uniting in Prayer." 2. A representative from Grace Community Church will contact the pastor or designated person to set up the technology and help arrange logistics for the monthly night of prayer. 3. A team of pastors and ministry leaders from the Houston area (to be determined) will meet, pray and set the direction for each citywide prayer meeting. Pastor Steve Riggle from Grace Community Church will facilitate this process. 4. Monthly prayer meetings will be held and televised at Grace Community Church on a Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. 5. Various Houston area pastors and prayer ministry leaders will share the leadership of the citywide prayer gatherings. 6. There is no financial cost for congregations to participate.
There will be informational meetings for pastors and ministry leaders to attend to hear more about this timely, exciting vision of united, transforming prayer.
